How it works
Five steps from Shopify install to fixed product data, active feeds, and tracked revenue. No engineering required.
Install Merchdex from the Shopify App Store with one click. OAuth handles authorisation securely - we request only the permissions we need, and we never store your customers' payment data.
Once connected, Merchdex ingests your full product catalogue: every product, variant, image, price, inventory level, and fulfilment policy. All of it synced in real time from that point forward via Shopify webhooks.
When inventory changes, prices update, or a product is added or archived, Merchdex knows immediately. AI agents see what's actually in stock.
Google Merchant Center connection is set up in this step too. Merchdex links to your GMC account and imports your existing feed status - including any current disapprovals - so you can see your Google eligibility picture immediately alongside your catalogue data.

Approval in progress (2–4 days)Every product gets a Catalogue Readiness Score from 0 to 100, calculated across five dimensions: data completeness, attribute depth, image quality, claim validity, and channel compatibility.
Issues are ranked by impact - critical issues block your product from appearing on AI surfaces, warnings reduce recommendation confidence, and passes show what's already working.
The score is available for every product in your catalogue, instantly, as part of the free plan. You do not need to pay to see what's wrong.

Pass · Inventory current - feeds reflect live stockMerchdex analyses your product titles, descriptions, images, and existing attributes to generate the structured data AI agents need: fit profiles, occasion tags, material properties, climate suitability, natural-language summaries, and more.
Every generated attribute shows a confidence score and a source explanation. You review and approve in a simple queue - bulk approve by category, or go product by product.
Sensitive claims - waterproof, organic, sustainable, lifetime warranty, medical benefit - are flagged automatically and require source evidence before they can be included in any exported feed. This protects you from misleading advertising liability before it becomes a problem.

Merchdex generates correctly formatted feed files for each channel from your single enriched catalogue. Google Merchant Center CSV for active submission, ACP-format files for ChatGPT, UCP-format files for Gemini, and schema.org JSON-LD for web surfaces.
ACP and UCP feed files are hosted at secure Merchdex URLs. OpenAI and Google crawl these files on their own schedules - Merchdex does not push products into AI results. What Merchdex controls is data quality, format compliance, and feed freshness. What happens after a crawler fetches the file is the platform's decision.
Channel validators check every product in each feed before it is included. Products with critical issues are excluded from feeds - you see exactly which ones and why. Google Merchant Center submission status shows directly in your GMC account.

Coming Q3 2026ACP and UCP feeds are hosted by Merchdex and crawled by OpenAI and Google on their own schedules. Merchdex tracks downstream clicks and orders via tracked URLs - not via impressions or ranking data, which AI platforms do not expose.
Every product link in your feeds passes through a Merchdex tracked redirect (go.merchdex.com). Merchdex records the click, channel, product, and session ID. When an order arrives via Shopify, Merchdex matches it to the originating click using the click ID and attribution window.
Attribution windows are displayed explicitly: same-session conversions (high confidence), 7-day (medium), 30-day (low). You always know how certain the attribution is.
Revenue is reported net of refunds. Return rate before and after enrichment is also shown - a second proof of value that does not depend on channel attribution accuracy.
